Discounts
Valid as of 1.4.2023
Prague Integrated Transport system (PID) offers fare discounts for the following categories of passengers:
- Children up to 6 years – free of charge
- Children from 6 to 10 years – in Prague free of charge, in Region with 50% discount
- Children from 10 to 15 years – in Prague free of charge, in Region with 50% discount
- Juniors from 15 to 18 years – in Prague discounted season tickets, in Region 50% discount
- Students from 18 to 26 years – in Prague discounted season tickets, in Region 50% discount
- Seniors from 60 to 65 years – in Prague discounted tickets
- Seniors from 65 years – in Prague free of charge, in Region with 50% discount
- Accompanying a child up to 3 years – in Prague free of charge
Passengers must prove that they are eligible for the discount (details below). If passengers cannot prove eligibility, they must purchase a full-price ticket.
Child up to 6 years
Free travel
Children under 6 years of age travel in the entire PID system for free. Such child must be accompanied by a person older than 10 years.
Child from 6 to 10 years
Prague – travel for free
Children from 6 to 10 years of age travel in the area of Prague for free. No proof is needed except for trains:
On PID trains in Prague children can travel for free, if they prove their eligibility (their age), namely:
- A document that is issued by a legal entity and contains the name, date of birth and a photo of the child (passport, ID, etc.)
- A chip card registered in the PID Lítačka system with an application proving the age
- A PID pass for a Child from 6 to 15 years
If a child cannot prove eligibility (age) by one of the above methods, they must purchase a full-price ticket on trains in Prague.
Region – 50% discount
Children from 6 to 10 years of age travel with a 50% discount in the entire PID area outside of Prague.
Child from 10 to 15 years
Prague – travel for free
Children from 10 to 15 years of age travel in the area of Prague for free, if they are able to prove their age.
In Prague children can travel for free if they prove their eligibility (their age), namely:
- A document that is issued by a legal entity and that contains the name, date of birth and a photo of the child (passport, ID, etc.) [ This proof cannot be used on trains.]
- A chip card registered in the PID Lítačka system with an application proving the age
- A PID pass for Child from 6 to 15 years
If a child cannot prove eligibility (age) by one of the above methods, they must purchase a full-price ticket.
Region – 50% discount
Children from 10 to 15 years of age travel with a 50% discount in the entire PID area outside of Prague. If in doubt, the ticket inspector/driver may ask for a document proving the child’s age.
Junior from 15 to 18 years
Prague – discounted season tickets
In Prague, discounted season tickets are provided to all passengers from 15 to 18 years regardless of whether they are students or not. These passengers belong into the fare category “Junior”. The discount is applicable only to season tickets, there are no discounts for Juniors on short-term tickets.
Region – 50% discount
Juniors from 15 to 18 years of age travel with a 50% discount in the entire PID area outside of Prague. Passenger can buy discounted tickets, if they are able to prove their age appropriately:
- A document that is issued by a legal entity and that contains the name, date of birth and a photo (passport, ID, ISIC, etc.)
- A chip card registered in the PID Lítačka system with an application proving the age
- A PID pass for Juniors from 15 to 18 years
If a Junior cannot prove eligibility (age) by one of the above methods, they must purchase a full-price ticket.
Student from 18 to 26 years
Prague – discounted season tickets
From 18 years of age all passengers pay full price of tickets. Students can acquire a discount on season tickets in Prague up to the age of 26, but only if they meet the following conditions:
- They study at a Czech school/university
- They are full-time students
- The entitlement is proven by a confirmation issued by the school (required every academic year)
The discount is applicable only to season tickets, there are no discounts for Students on short-term tickets.
Region – 50% discount
Students from 18 to 26 years of age travel with a 50% discount in the entire PID area outside of Prague. The discount can be used only by full-time students. Students must prove their eligibility by using a valid International Student Identity Card (ISIC). Other passengers older then 18 years must buy full price tickets.
Senior from 60 to 65 years
Prague – discounted tickets
Passengers from 60 to 65 years of age travel with a discount in the area of Prague, if they are able to prove their age:
- National identity card issued by a European Union country
- Passport
- A chip card registered in the PID Lítačka system with an application proving the age
- A PID pass for Seniors from 60 to 65 years
If a person cannot prove eligibility (age) by one of the above methods, they must purchase a full-price ticket.
Region – full price
There are no discounts for Seniors from 60 to 65 years in the Region.
Senior from 65 years
Prague – travel for free
Seniors from 65 years of age travel in the area of Prague for free, if they are able to prove their age:
- National identity card issued by a European Union country [ This proof cannot be used on trains.]
- Passport [ This proof cannot be used on trains.]
- A chip card registered in the PID Lítačka system with an application proving the age
- A PID pass for Seniors from 65 years
If a senior cannot prove eligibility (age) by one of the above methods, they must purchase a full-price ticket.
Region – 50% discount
Seniors from 65 years of age travel with a 50% discount in the entire PID area outside of Prague. Passenger must present a valid ID or passport that proves their age.
Accompanying a child up to 3 years
Prague – travel for free
One person accompanying a child under the age of 3 can travel around Prague for free (except for trains), if they are able to prove the age of the child:
- National identity card of the Child issued by a European Union country [ This proof cannot be used on trains.]
- Passport of the the Child [ This proof cannot be used on trains.]
- A PID pass for Child under 3 years [ This proof cannot be used on trains.]
If an accompanying person cannot prove the child’s age by one of the above methods, they must purchase a full-price ticket.
Region – full price
There are no discounts for the accompanying person in the Region.
PID Pass
PID passes have a dual purpose:
- As a seasonal ticket.
- To prove the passenger’s age.
To receive a PID card, you need an official document (national identity card issued by a European Union country, passport or birth certificate etc.) and a photo measuring 3.5 x 4.5 cm (not older than one year). The pass can be purchased only at specified points of sale. The price of the pass is 60 CZK.
